日経平均株価の先物取引（日経225）を、1/10のミニサイズで行う商品を日経225ミニといいます。
日経225ミニは2006年７月から始まったもので、少ない資金でも取引ができ、銘柄を選ぶ手間を省くことができるシンプルさが売りの株取引です。先行して取引されていた日経225先物取引の小規模版として登場した商品であるため、「日経225ミニ」という商品名で呼ばれています。

日経225ミニでは、日経平均株価が14,000円の場合、日経225ミニの最小単位１枚は140万円になります。株式相場の変動によって日経平均株価が10円上昇した場合、1,000円の利益が出ます。
安値で買って高値で売るか、高値で売ったものを安値で買うかすることで利益を得る仕組みになっています。日経225ミニを購入する時の購入資金ですが、実際に額面通りの金額が必要かというとそうではありません。
